Admission Policy
Admission:
NHU is granted on the basis of merit alone as determined through the aptitude test of NHU score and the students’ previous academic records. Applicants for admission are provided with a prospectus which provides details about the admission procedures.
Provisional Admission:
Candidates awaiting results of intermediate or equivalent examinations are allowed to go through the admission process on “result awaiting” basis subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria and admission requirements of the program applied for. Their selection will be based on their percentage in the last examination in which they appeared provided they passed all subjects. Students granted provisional admission must submit their pass results of the examinations one week before the final examination of the first semester.
Candidates who are admitted on result awaiting basis are also required to submit an affidavit on a stamp paper of Rs. 100/- to the admission department to the effect that if they fail to meet the eligibility criteria of the program to which they have applied then their admission will be cancelled and they will not be eligible for any refunds. (The affidavit is kept in the Admissions Department.)
Cancellation Provisional Admission:
Provisional admissions of the students who are admitted on “result awaiting” basis will be cancelled if they do not submit the requisite documents meeting eligibility criteria before the Final Examination of first semester, or if they fail to meet the eligibility criteria of that program. A supplementary in any subject is considered as failing the examination even if the student has attained the acceptable level of %age. The reasons for the cancellation of admission will be given in writing and fees deposited by such students will not be refunded.
Ineligibility of Admission:
- A student who does not meet the basic eligibility for the applied program is ineligible for admission.
- The students who are expelled on disciplinary grounds will not be permitted to rejoin the University.
Deferment of Admission:
Candidate selected for admissions may defer their admission for one semester (in case of Engineering programs for two semesters) after paying the admission fee. The students desiring to do so are required to submit an application to the respective Director Campus for deferment of their admissions within two weeks of commencement of the semester. Fee deposited by such students will be readjusted in the subsequent semester. Whilst the University accepts deferred applications, it cannot guarantee that a course will definitely run in the requested year of entry.
Such applications can be made directly at the time of applying. Applicants wishing to defer after resubmitting an application should contact the Admissions Office of the respective Campus. Applicants shall normally be allowed to defer their place once only. In exceptional circumstances, a second deferral may be allowed, although a new application form will be required.
Cancellation of Candidature:
If a student fails to meet the academic eligibility criteria, his/her provisional admission will be cancelled.
Change of Academic Discipline:
A student of BBA, BS, and B.Arch. may change his / her discipline in first semester only subject to fulfillment of basic eligibility criteria of that discipline. The student has to apply at the time when the admissions in that discipline are offered by paying admission form fee / processing fee as per the NHU policy. Courses in common with other disciplines in which the student achieved a grade of at least “B” may be exempted/transferred. All such cases (Change of Academic Discipline) require the approval of Chairpersons and the Vice Chancellor.
